The Cowichan Valley is located on Vancouver Island just 45 minutes north of Victoria, the provincial city of British Columbia. Almost equi-distant from both Nanaimo and Victoria, there are 3 landing options from BC ferries, and an easy drive to Maple Bay from both. In the language of the local first nationss’ band, Cowichan means “warm land” and stands by the name. The Cowichan Valley boasts the warmest year-round mean temperatures in the country. Travel and Leisure magazine recently rated Vancouver Isaland as the 3rd best island in the world, though residents of this paradise may well rank it first. Harrowsmith magazine has named the Cowichan Valley as one of the top ten rural areas in the country. With a catchment area exceeding 75,000 people, the cultural diversity is rich and colorful, and the list of interests and amenities is significant. A full service hospital, all and any professional services, a long list or retailers from “big box” outlets to quaint boutiques, the Cowichan Valley has it all.
